What a Travel Agent Really Does (Especially for Parents Who Are Overwhelmed)

So you’re a parent. You’ve got maybe six minutes of quiet a day (usually while hiding in the bathroom), and you’d love to plan a family vacation that doesn’t involve you doing everything.

Enter: the modern travel agent.
(Hi! That’s me.)

Let’s get one thing out of the way first:
I’m not sitting in a strip mall with a rolodex and a map of the Bahamas from 1994.
I’m a mom, deep in the parenting trenches, who became a travel agent in 2025 after realizing just how much time, energy, and sanity it takes to plan a family trip.

I’m still new to the travel industry, but I’ve been living the real-life version of “How do I book a hotel that won’t make my toddler cry?” for years — and I’ve turned that obsession into something that can help other families just like mine.

Because let’s be honest: planning travel with kids is basically a second job.
A travel agent (again: me!) is here to take that job off your plate.

A Peek Behind the Curtain: What I Actually Do

Let’s say a client messages me:
“We want to go somewhere warm in February. We’ve got a 4-year-old, a baby, and no idea where to start. Help?”

Even as a newer agent, I know exactly how to tackle this — because that’s literally my life.

I research like it’s my full-time hobby.

I dive into the fine print, read real parent reviews, compare options, and weed out anything that doesn’t work for your family. I’m learning from the best travel agent mentors and tools — and I’m combining that with my mom instincts to find options that truly make sense for families with little ones.

I ask the questions Google doesn’t.

  • “Does this resort have cribs, or do they mean ‘pack-n-play if available’?”
  • “Is this beach actually calm and shallow — or just photogenic but rough?”
  • “Can your 3-year-old join the kids’ club, or is it 4+ only?”

I might still be learning the ropes in some areas, but when it comes to knowing what matters to parents, I’m already fluent.

I watch prices and promos like a hawk.

I use the same tools as experienced agents to track deals and alerts — which means my clients can benefit from those savings, even if they booked months ago.

I get on the phone (and stay on hold) so you don’t have to.

Need a crib confirmed? Want to make sure the room is on the quiet side of the hotel? I’m your person — because I know those tiny details are actually huge when traveling with kids.

What I’m Not Doing:

  • I’m not trying to upsell you. (Actually, I love finding great value options that make your money go further.)
  • I’m not pretending to have traveled everywhere. If I haven’t been somewhere, I have trusted partners and firsthand reviews I turn to.
  • I’m not judging your vacation dreams — whether it’s Disney, a beach, or just a nap in peace.

What You Get When You Work With Me:

  • A parent who understands the chaos and creates a plan around your real life
  • A guide who’s been there — packing snacks, juggling tantrums, Googling boarding pass policies at midnight
  • A growing library of kid-friendly resorts, cruise lines, and destinations that work for real families
  • Someone who’s learning fast, asks all the right questions, and genuinely wants you to feel confident, calm, and excited to travel again

✨ Here’s the Best Part:

Even though I’m new, I bring something that’s easy to forget in this industry:
I’m building this business because I love helping other families travel better.
I’m approachable, thorough, and always happy to say, “Don’t worry — I’ll figure that out for you.”

And just like all the seasoned agents out there, you don’t pay me a dime. I’m paid by the travel suppliers you book with — not by you.

So if you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or just unsure where to begin — but you really want to make some memories — I’ve got you.
